Do you work on doors outside Vernon Hills?
Yes. We regularly cover towns from a few miles out to places like and Round Lake Beach further out. If your town isn't listed, call and ask - service range depends on the day's schedule, not just distance.
Where We Travel
We're based in Vernon Hills and run calls through the surrounding area - 2 miles out at 3, Libertyville at 4, and further out to at 5. We also cover around 6 miles, and reach as far as at 8 miles. Past that we still take calls in at 9 miles, Round Lake around 10 to 11 miles, and out to Round Lake Beach at 12 miles.
That's a lot of ground, and it's mostly the same housing stock throughout - 1980s and 90s construction with pockets going back to the late 1930s. It's a cold-weather region, and doors here take the kind of moderate cold-climate stress that shows up as stiff springs in January and swollen wood jambs in March. If you're outside this radius, call and ask - we may still be able to get to you, but we'd rather tell you straight than promise a truck we can't send.
The Work We Take On
Most calls fall into a few buckets: a broken torsion spring on a double door, an opener that runs but won't lift, a bent track from a car backing out too fast, or a panel that's rusted through at the bottom where snowmelt sits against it all winter. Given the age spread of housing in this area - some of it pushing 85 years old, most of it from the 1980s and 90s - we see a fair number of doors that are structurally fine but running on openers and springs that are well past their rated cycle count. Replacing those two parts alone often solves problems homeowners assume mean a whole new door.
We also handle full door replacements when the wood has delaminated, the insulation has failed, or the sections are dented beyond a clean fix. What we don't do is guess. We look at the door, tell you what's actually wrong, and give you the option that costs the least to solve it for good. If a part needs to be special-ordered because the door is old enough that standard stock doesn't fit, we'll tell you that up front too - it happens more here than in newer developments, given how much of the housing predates the current stock hardware sizing.
